The Computer Guy on Podnutz!

About once a year I get a request from the gang at Podnutz to do a live show that will be recorded and saved for later.  Many times it’s just a podcast and this time it was a live video show.  I have been with others before on the show and I’ve been interviewed one on one.  Jeff does a fine job with the show and it is (very) professional in my opinion!  I’m always glad to help him out with content and sometimes we stay on topic and sometimes we drift a bit, but Jeff always brings us back.  Thanks to the other guys as well for rounding out the program!

It’s always a pleasure!

Tutorial – Removing Facebook Apps

“It seemed like a good idea at the time!”  That’s what most people thought when they downloaded “The Most Popular Words Used In Your Profile” app this past week.  Over the past several days, it was revealed that the app really wasn’t that keen on keeping your information secure, so The Computer Guy to the rescue and has made a video on what to do in removing the apps that you no longer use or that may be harmful to your ONLINE health.

Enjoy and be careful, even when you set apps to “Only Me” they can still collect your private information!

Pat’s On Periscope – Show 20

Well, I finally had to block a few people who were always being rude and inconsiderate to my “scopes.”  When I do these, I like to give 100% to the video because I know I am going to repurpose it into several areas.  I guess I wasn’t clear enough when I was doing the video and some guy kept pointing out I only had 4 viewers.

Nevertheless, I got through the video and discussed a serious matter, the terrorist attack in France and the scams and hoaxes that have already hit email boxes around the world.  Please, check out all solicitations for money in regards  to the attacks.  There are people out there just waiting to scam you out of cash.

I also talked a bit about Black Friday and I do have The Computer Guy gift cards for sale.  They are $10 each and you can buy as many as you need for that loved one who may need some extra help this holiday season!

The “Microsoft Call” Scam

The “real” Microsoft says that 3.3 million people will be duped out of $15 BILLION dollars in 2015 due to fake calls from Microsoft, Apple, Windows, or many scams.  Their targets are mostly elderly people.  Today, “Sharon” picked the wrong guy to call.  What happens is that they want you to hit a combination of keys to show you how messed up your computer is.  In this case, they wanted to show me the CLSID number, which is the same in every computer.  I recorded the screen through the process to show you how they do this and to warn you if they call you that you just need to hang up!!  In no uncertain terms this lady who eventually hung up on me know exactly what I think of her and her “call” to me.  It was just the luck of the draw that I had my video recorded next to me and my computer screen recorder on as well.  There’s a special place in hell for these people who call from overseas where there are no laws or rules in which to get your money back from them.

Please, if you have an older friend or relative, warn them of these people so they can just hang up on them, or tell them what I tell them, “It’s a bunch of shit!”
